Activities at Camp Liahona

Hiking
Nature walks and casual hikes are available all around the 80-acre Camp Liahona property and surrounding areas. Longer hikes can also be done nearby on some of the non-paved roads and old logging roads, or on portions of the Appalachian Trail.
Appalachian Trail - marked spur trail leads from Camp to the top of the ridge where it meets the Appalachian Trail between I-84 and Route 55 crossing.
Swimming
The camp has a white sand beach along the shore of Whaley Lake where children, youth, or adults can enjoy wading or swimming in the lake. There is a secure roped-off area plus an off-shore floating dock for your enjoyment.
NOTE: Smimming is permitted ONLY when a camp lifeguard is on duty.
Canoeing and Boating
Aluminum canoes (with paddles and life-jackets) are available for hourly or daily rental.
Motor boats and jetskis can be used on Whaley Lake by certified operators.
Biking
Guests may use their own bikes to travel around Whaley Lake on paved roadways, or go "off-road" onto some of the non-paved roadways and trails.
The Hudson Valley Rail Trail, 18 miles round trip from Amenia to Millerton, is also within a 30 minute drive.
Sports
Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Softball, Kickball, and tennis are all available at the camp.
Orienteering
A orienteering or compass course is currently under development for use by organized groups or small teams.
